Energy is one of the most crucial necessities that we require for survival. It provides life-sustaining and health-promoting goods, starting with the electricity that powers almost everything we utilize in our homes, work and other activities, to the fuel that allows us to get from one place to another. However, not all energy is concerned about how it affects our health. The most harmful source of energy consists of fossil fuels. Fossil fuel – coal, oil, and natural gas – produces several pollutants like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, and hydrocarbons.

These pollutants are then released into the air that in turn affect our health as illnesses develop. Some of the illnesses that have been reported across the U.S. due to pollution are asthma, headaches, pneumonia, cardiovascular ills, chronic bronchitis, acute bronchitis, just to name a few.

A healthy and clean energy alternative to fossil fuel is solar power.  Some advantages of solar energy are it has no air and water pollution and no threats to our public health. Because solar power reduces all pollutants that fossil fuel generates, respiratory and cardio health illnesses are then improved.
