In recent years, global warming has become quite relevant and stirred up some controversy among the fossil fuel industry. With gradual changes in temperature, a rise in sea level, melting ice, and air pollution, it’s no wonder global warming has been a part of the conversation. In fact, these changes have led to environmental issues for humanity, animals, agriculture, and our cities. So, what is global warming?
Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by an increase in levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. The burning of fossil fuel releases these pollutants into the air and is responsible for emitting about 22 billion tons of carbon dioxide each year. As carbon dioxide is released more heat is trapped by the atmosphere, causing the planet to become warmer than it would be naturally. The increase in global temperature this causes results in global warming.
Today, we stand in an era where energy demand is high, but have options to adopt renewable energy sources. For instance, solar power, a clean source of energy that utilizes sunlight to produce energy. Solar energy does not emit any of the pollutants that fossil fuel releases and residential homeowners have began to adopt solar panel installations to be in more control of their electricity while helping the environment. Let’s save our planet and stop using fossil fuels to generate electricity.
