SLIDING GLASS DOOR

Sliding glass doors allow a lot of natural light to enter the home; they come in many different styles from contemporary to traditional, and typically open about 5 – 6 feet wide, however, certain types of custom built doors can open 10 to 12 feet, or more.  One of the benefits of a sliding glass door is that the frame is larger than a standard door frame, which allows more space to move items in and out of the house.

SLIDING GLASS

A standard sliding glass door is composed of one fixed panel, with one sliding panel, however there are many variations on that, including: pocketing panels, telescoping panels, folding panels, and pivoting panels.

FRENCH

A French glass slider has four panels, with the outer two panels fixed in place, while the two inner panels operate, and when closed, adjoin each other in the same plane.

TELESCOPING

A telescoping glass door consists of three or more panels that slide past each other on a wide track, creating a “wall of glass” effect, and the ability to get a really wide opening that eliminates the barrier between outside and inside.

FOLDING

A folding glass door has panels that fold up like an accordion when open.

POCKET

A pocket sliding glass door where the panel(s) slide on a single track into the wall where they disappear into the wall itself.
